about

this is the first Kristus Kut rerelease on het Donkse Oog.

the tracks for this album were recorded early 2009. the track droomLicht has been released earlier as a limited 3inch on Witte Dood. the other tracks were never released before.

a review on Damned By Light about this 3inch

Kristus Kut is, to my knowledge, a rather well-known name. Since 2008 this band from the Netherlands has released twelve (12!) full-lenghts and even more splits and EP's. This is one of the few that, to my knowledge, isn't themed around pornography.
Droomlicht (which means Dreamlight) is based around a single sound: a vast, repetitive, low, and clear but just slightly noisy (fast) drone that doesn't really change it's sound at all. It progresses by slowly changing it's volume level from loud to silent, thus creating a rather hypnotic and appealing backbone to the track. The drone is supported by some electric sounds, such as some harsh and damp metallic percussions/beats. There's occasionally some beats that sound like small, echoed and really damp explosions, which really keep your attention on the track. There's also some harsher, even somewhat noisy electronic and droning sounds here and there, keeping the track interesting for it's whole lenght. The sounds are imbued around the main drone in a way that makes the song really sound like a whole for the 22 minutes.
This song is magical. Despite it's monotony and bare values, it manages to easily keep one's interest on it. The volume levels are used with talent, as the track changes from occasional "explosions" to more wavy droning to occasional complete silences, which causes the listener to really listen what's going on. The listening experience is really intense, and the track just seems to end too soon.
Some parts of the track could've benefited from more/stronger sounds, and the cover art could be a lot better. Aside from that, I recommend this release to those that want a good dose of noisy drone.
